Year 8 field trip to Holt Hall in Norfolk
The academic year began in earnest for our year 8 geographers who visited Holt Hall for a residential field trip. Holt Hall is a specialist learning centre set in woodland, lakes, fields, lawns and gardens, that provides a wealth of opportunities for learning outside the classroom. It is in this wonderful setting that our children studied aquatic and woodland ecology, gathering essential data about the local ecosystems and habitats, and giving them an invaluable opportunity to exercise their practical skills. The children were particularly enthused to work in the River Glaven, taking a range of measurements that will enable detailed analyses of river processes. The data collected will be recorded and analysed to form the backbone of their Common Entrance geography projects, and the practical, outdoor experience will only strengthen their understanding and enthusiasm for the subject matter. The chocolate surprise was very good too!
