Year 7 Residential Trip to Château de La Baudonnière in Normandy.
On Sunday 1st September our Year 7 pupils set off to spend a week at the Château de La Baudonnière in Normandy.
The main focus for this annual trip is the acquisition of language through participating in a number of challenging and enjoyable activities. During the week the children attended French lessons and took part in climbing, assault courses, raft building, circus skills, aeroball, breadmaking, orienteering and archery, with all the instruction being delivered in French. They also had the chance to try a wide range of delicious French foods, meet the tame animals at the Château farm and learn about how cider is made. A particular highlight each year is a visit to the wonderful market at Dinan, with the afternoon spent learning about and exploring the Mont Saint Michel.
Over the course of the week the children made dramatic progress in their communication skills in French, especially the ability to understand and process the language they hear. We have been visiting the Château for over twenty years now, and we are happy that our most recent venture has been another unqualified success.
