Year 4 Visit the Norwich Hebrew Congregation Synagogue
Our Year 4 children visited the Norwich Hebrew Congregation Synagogue this week as part of their Religious Studies topic on Judaism. The visit incorporated a wide range of interactive activities that allowed the children to explore traditional dress, Jewish customs and ancient symbols. They also learnt more about the religious festival of Hanukkah that spans over an 8 day period and is synonymous with the Menorah candelabra.
The children were particularly interested to hold a facsimile of the Torah Scroll close up, to view antique sections of the Scroll and to understand and appreciate why it is central to Jewish life. Thank you very much to the Synagogue staff and congregation for hosting us and for giving our children a fascinating insight the Jewish faith.
