World Book Day at Town Close School

 

It is World Book Day at last and we are all so excited,

To be celebrating stories – Librarian, Mrs Wootton is delighted!

 

Dressed up as our favourite characters from books;

There are goodies, baddies, heroines, crooks.

 

In Pre Prep we have pirates, ballerinas but no buffalo;

We do have a crocodile, two Stickmen, a Gruffalo!

 

The Prep children have chosen to be heroes or rotters;

Unsurprisingly, lots of wizards, quite a few Harry Potters.

 

The Staff have joined in a whole range of guises;

There are witches, burglars and bears of all sizes!

 

The day has been filled with lots of fun, stories and laughter,

Tales of adventure and challenge, living happily ever after.

 

So thank you to those at home for the work and the thought,

That went into the costumes whether made, borrowed or bought.

 

And an even bigger thank you to all of the writers, alive and dead,

Who have given us the poems, stories and tales to be read.

 

This generation of children, with keen ears and sharp looks,

With our help, will continue to love and treasure your books.
