Walsingham Visit
Walsingham is an international centre for Christian pilgrimage and we are very lucky that it is only an hour away from Town Close. Our Year 6 children are learning about different Christian denominations and the act of pilgrimage. Following our trip to Walsingham, they have become experts in the legend of Walsingham and identifying and describing Christian places of worship. Maureen and Alan, our two guides from the Shrine’s Education Department, led us around the Russian Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Methodist and Anglian Shrines showing us all both the differences and similarities in the way these Christian groups worship. The children were able to take part in a sprinkling ceremony at the shrine’s well that pilgrims first did nearly a thousand years ago. The day was a great success and will certainly enrich our forth-coming RS lessons.
