TRIP TO CHÂTEAU DE LA BAUDONNIÈRE
Year Seven children are now in their second full day at the Château de la Baudonnière and are already making massive progress with their French understanding. This morning everyone enjoyed pain au chocolat for breakfast along with fruit, cereals, bread and yoghurt. The children are in four activity groups, with two doing French followed by orientation this morning, one doing French followed by archery and the other doing escalade (climbing). All the instructions are given in French and the children are all being taught the phrases they need to participate. This afternoon, the first of our groups will be doing the famous parcours de santé (obstacle course).
Yesterday everyone was given a tour of the Chateau, which included lots of games around the site. One group explored the grounds further with the orienteering activity with a lot of ground covered both literally and with their French understanding. Other groups did aeroball and circus skills and one group did climbing with everyone making it to the top, thanks to the encouragement of their peers. Yesterday’s culinary highlights included a delicious potato and roasted vegetable dish, French cheeses, pork with a caramel sauce and croissants.
The children have been excellent so far with some impressive responses to the questions animateurs have asked them and also top marks for all the Town Close dormitories in yesterday’s inspection by the Chateau staff. It was also great to see some of the children who woke up early this morning continuing with their “journaux” which we started yesterday.
