Storytelling Week

Storytelling Week

This week has been ‘Storytelling Week’ where the children have enjoyed both telling and listening to stories. Mr Avenal gave an assembly to Years 2 – 4 about the history of storytelling and the origins of some of their favourite films. Author John Harris recited some exciting tales including Beowulf, and two productions were watched: Norwich High School’s production of Jack and the Beanstalk was enjoyed by Year 3 and Years 1 to 4 saw The Tinder Box by Hans Christian Andersen performed by the Norwich Puppet Theatre in the Read Hall, where the children were able to have a closer look at the puppets and find out how they were made. The older Prep children shared fiction books with children from the Pre Prep and Year 3 visited the Nursery children to read picture books with them. It was a wonderful week which reminded us all about the magic of stories and books.
