Our Year 8 geographers enjoy a residential trip to Holt Hall
The return to School was a particularly exciting one for our Year 8 geographers who set off on a residential field trip on day one of the new term! Their destination was Holt Hall, a specialist learning centre set in woodland, lakes, fields, lawns and gardens, that provides a wealth of opportunities for the children to apply their practical geography skills. Our children’s focus was the local aquatic and woodland ecology, and they were excited to have the opportunity to gather essential data about the local ecosystems and habitats that would inform their Common Entrance geography projects. The children were particularly enthused to work in the River Glaven, taking a range of measurements that will enable detailed analyses of river processes. The annual Year 8 visit to Holt Hall is a wonderful way to launch the geography Year 8 Syllabus with the practical, outdoor experiences strengthening the children’s understanding and enthusiasm for the topic and their personal project work.
