He has overseen a period of significant success at Ashford with the school being recently recognised as a finalist for Independent Prep School of the Year. Preceding this, Nick spent several successful years as Head of the Prep School and Nursery at Norwich High School for Girls, as well as other senior roles in the independent school sector including SENCo, Assistant Head and Deputy Head. As a specialist in Primary Mathematics, Nick is a published author and educational consultant, previously serving as a Regional Lead for Primary Mathematics for a large academies group. He is also a Team Inspector for the ISI, bringing a wealth of experience and insight into the wider sector and exemplary industry standards.
The Board was extremely impressed by Nick’s experience and vision as well as his strong academic, pastoral and leadership background. He exemplified his passion for education and his desire to be innovative and ambitious whilst, at all times, demonstrating a warmth of personality and an approachable demeanour. He responded to the pupil panel’s questions with friendliness, enthusiasm and honesty.

With strong familial links to the local area, they are relishing a return to Norwich and all that Norfolk life has to offer. Nick is a keen sportsman; particularly enjoying cricket, hockey, skiing and hiking; he also enjoys the theatre, cooking and children’s literature.
Upon his appointment, Nick said: ‘It is a great honour and privilege to have the opportunity to lead ‘Norwich’s Finest Prep School’. This is a role that I have had my eye on for many years, due to the excellent reputation of the school, and I cannot wait to become part of this incredible community. During the process it was so clear that Town Close offers an exceptional well-rounded education with the children placed at the very heart of all that it seeks to do. I am excited to play a key role in the onward development of the school; making the most of all that it currently has to offer and exploring new opportunities to optimise the potential of each child who passes through it.’
