IAPS U13 Hockey
At the IAPS East Region hockey finals on Monday, the Under 13 boys produced their best hockey of the season to qualify for the National finals at the end of the month.
They were unbeaten in their group matches, drawing 1-1 with Culford, beating South Lee 2-0, drawing with Bishop Stortford College 1-1 and beating Kingshott 2-0. This saw the boys finish second in their group with a quarter final tie against Bedford School. The boys scored an early goal through Arjuna Puvanachandra and then defended heroically to achieve a 1-0 win. This was also the score in a close semi-final match against Norfolk rivals Gresham’s, Joseph Roy scoring the winner. In the final they played Bishop Stortford again and lost a tight game 0-2, both the goals coming from well worked short corners. Overall, though, a magnificent performance on the day and the boys should be duly proud of all their efforts.
