From The Heart Day
From The Heart Day is a special event in the School calendar when we take the time to think on and appreciate everything and everyone that we love as well as celebrate being part of a loving community. All of the staff and the children, from Nursery to Year 8, came into school wearing an item of clothing or an outfit that they love; they each brought a donation to contribute to our school charity’s running total for the year, spreading the love beyond the School.
This year, our affiliation with our School charity, Friend In Deed, added special significance to the day. Friend in Deed is a Norfolk based charity that creates friendships across generations through various intergenerational initiatives. They aim to reduce loneliness and promote kindness through events and projects that engage people of all ages. In the spirit of those aims, our Year 7 pupils visited Chiswick House and Cromwell House residential homes to spend some extended time with the residents and share some of their work and their experiences of school life. We, also, welcomed residents from Corton House Care Home and Broadlands Care Home into School for an afternoon of collaborative crafting in Pre Prep. After some delicious homemade refreshments, the residents thoroughly enjoyed being entertained by our children from Nursery – Year 1 with songs and poetry all about love and kindness.
Our amazing PTA capped the day and the half of term off with gifts of delicious chocolate distributed to every pupil and member of staff. Our special thanks to all of the PTA volunteers who gave their time to pack up 1785 chocolate hearts to share with 594 very happy recipients. That’s a whole lot of love!
