Coronation Celebrations
Mr Kendrick opened the day’s coronation festivities with a whole School Assembly in the Read Hall. Looking ahead to a historic weekend, Mr Kendrick spoke about coronations of the past, the significance of the coronation service and the traditions and pageantry we can all look forward to witnessing. The Assembly concluded with a rousing rendition of ‘God Save the King’, accompanied by the Senior Wind Band.
Over the course of the week preceding the Coronation, our Year 5 – 8 tutor groups and Year 3 and 4 classes re-designed their doors with a royal, coronation theme in the hope that their door would be awarded the ‘winning door design’. The results were announced in Assembly with 4R taking the coveted top spot!
The standard of crowns submitted in our ‘Design & Make a Crown’ competition was extraordinary, making it an extremely difficult job for our judges! Well done to all of the children who designed and made their own crown & special congratulations to our winners:
Nursery: Arthur, Valentine, Isabella & Penny
Reception: Florence, Evelyn & Albie
Year 1: Harry, Cora & Percy
Year 2: Victoria, Sabrina & Henry A
Year 3: Isabella
Year 4: Persephone
Years 5 & 6: Harriet W
The undisputed highlight of our day was the Coronation Lunch! Huge thanks to our incredible catering team for devising a delicious Coronation Lunch for us all to enjoy together and for taking the time to decorate both dining rooms with bunting and table arrangements befitting the day!
A coronation photo of every child provided a lasting memento of a very special day.
