Christmas at Town Close
Christmas at Town Close
In the lead up to Christmas, Town Close was transformed into a magical Winter Wonderland: beautifully staged lighting adorned the woodland walk, reindeer rested happily in the outdoor classroom whilst Mrs Claus and her elves prepared for Christmas and a mini polar express steamed its way across the front lawn!
On the day of the Christmas Fayre, we welcomed over 60 families from the local community to explore the Christmas extravaganza for free. Meandering through the woods they were transported to a wintry wilderness, much helped by the icy weather conditions! At the end of the walk families enjoyed meeting with Mrs Claus and her reindeer before jumping aboard the miniature steam train brought to us from ‘All Aboard Railway’.
In the afternoon the event opened to our pupils, parents and families of Town Close, who enjoyed what was the most spectacular Christmas Fayre in the School’s history. As well as having the opportunity to explore the Woodland Walk and witness the incredible lighting in all of its glory, the Sports Hall was buzzing with over 35 local businesses selling festive goods in time for Christmas, plus fun and games stalls for children (and adults) to try their luck at winning prizes. The Prep playground became the stage for our School choirs and the Salvation Army Band, who filled the air with carols and Christmas songs whilst their audience sipped hot chocolate and feasted on a range of delicious food. Our Year 3 and 4 pupils set up their own stalls, selling gifts they had made in lessons to raise money for our School charity the Zoological Society of East Anglia.
The event marked the beginning of a fabulously festive final week of term with parents and families watching Nativity performances in Pre Prep, the House Christmas Competition, a visit from a Christmas elf in Pre Prep, Christmas Lunch, carol singing and the Prep Carol Service at St Peter Mancroft.
