A busy week for our Eco-Council
A busy week for our Eco-Council
Our Eco-Council benefitted from the knowledge and expertise of our STEM partner, Dr Teresa Penfield, when she gave her time to advise them on this year’s Royal Society ‘Wild Pond’ Conservation Project. They now have a clear action plan for the winter months and they wasted no time putting stage one into action when, later in the week, they began to clear the weed from the surface of the pond. Using nets, they carefully extracted the leaves, debris and algae from the water before leaving it on the bank to allow any potential wildlife to emerge before the weed is added to the School’s Green Johannas.
Later in the week, three representatives from the Eco-Council pitched to our PTA Committee for funds to support their project citing a number of jobs that need to be completed. Well done to Imogen, Edward and Saskia for presenting the details of the project so confidently.
