Directions

Town Close School is situated in the centre of Norwich between Ipswich Road and Newmarket Road.

On Foot:

We encourage visitors walking to the School to use our main entrance on Ipswich Road, next to the little brick cottage. Please use the intercom system to gain entry at the gate and then follow your way down the path to our Front Office to sign in. We do also have pedestrian entrances on Newmarket Road and at the Pre Prep entrance on Ipswich Road which are mainly used by parents. However, if you arrive at either of these entrances please use the intercom system to gain entry and then follow the signs to the office to sign in.

Bicycle:

If you are arriving by bicycle and you are using the bicycle lane on Newmarket Road, you are welcome to enter the School via our Newmarket Road entrance. When you arrive please use the intercom system to gain entry and you will find our bicycle sheds next to the playground to park your bike. Alternatively, please arrive at our Ipswich Road main entrance next to the little brick cottage.

Bus:

A number of buses travel past the School on both the Ipswich and Newmarket Roads:

To arrive via Newmarket Road select the following as your destination:

• Town Close Road on Newmarket Road, Norwich

To arrive via Ipswich Road select the following as your destination:

• Ipswich Grove, on Ipswich Road, Norwich

Car:

A140 from Ipswich:

• Follow the A140 towards Norwich.
• After junction with A47, continue straight on, passing Tesco on your right.
• Keep straight, passing the Holiday Inn on the right.
• At junction with the ring road, get into the right hand lane (middle lane) and go straight over traffic lights.
• After about 300 yards, turn left through the gates before the little brick cottage (opposite City College Norwich, having passed through a set of pedestrian traffic lights).
• Follow the drive down to the School building.
• Parking for visitors should be available near the porch.

A11 from Thetford:

• After junction with A47, continue towards Norwich, over roundabout at Cringleford Roundhouse Park.
• Go through two sets of traffic lights.
• Turn right at the roundabout onto the ring road.
• At 1st set of Traffic Lights, turn left onto the Ipswich Road (A140).
• After about 300 yards, turn left into the gates before the little brick cottage (having passed through a set of pedestrian traffic lights, opposite City College Norwich).
• Follow the drive down to the School building.
• Parking for visitors should be available near the porch.

Sat Nav users should enter NR2 2LJ for the Ipswich Road Visitor’s Entrance, and progress through the gates beside the brick cottage, opposite City College Norwich. Please do not use the School’s actual NR2 2LR postcode, as this will direct you to the Newmarket Road pupil drop off / collection point.
