TOWN CLOSE SCHOOL STEM Fortnight Week One
The whole school has been extremely busy with STEM related activities in the first week of our dedicated STEM fortnight. In conjunction with World Space Week, our Year 1 children designed their own spaceships and continued their investigations into the UFO crash site that was discovered in the Woodland Walk. They were also thrilled to welcome Dr McNamara into School to talk to them about bones. Our Reception children, adorned in their lab coats, conducted a number of experiments that explored colour and pattern, as well as using chromatography to separate pen dyes through coffee filter paper. The Years 1 to 4 welcomed the Blockbus into School to consider the structural design of bridges before designing and building their own and our Prep children enjoyed special computer programming lessons, exploring coding using interactive robots called Ozobots.
A highlight of the week for our Pre Prep children was Mr Chapman’s assembly on Science and Magic that delighted and astounded the children in equal measure! The magic of Science is set to continue in Week Two of our STEM Fortnight as we look forward to more inspiring visitors and plenty of activities and challenges for our children to enjoy.
