The Town Close School F24 Team triumph at Lotus!
The weather couldn’t dampen the spirits or the energy of our F24 racing team at the Greenpower Education Trust’s inaugural F24 National Racing Series at the Lotus test track! The School’s team of Year 8 pupils performed with great tenacity and determination on and off the track, tackling racing conditions that would have proven testing to the professionals in the sport.
The two races, of equal weighting, were 90 minutes each, with all of the children handling both the driving and the pit stops. In the first race the Town Close team finished a very creditable third, before adapting their vehicle very slightly and winning the final race of the day in great style, overtaking their closest rival on the last lap!
Our Head of Design and Technology, Matt Buck, is the Norfolk Ambassador for the Greenpower Trust and a dynamic advocate for the trust and the educational benefits the electric car racing offers the participants. He commented: “We are absolutely chuffed to bits to have won one of the races. However, that is not what the day was all about and every child that took past came away with a sense of achievement and with big smiles on their faces.”
