Our performance hall was officially opened in 2010 by Adam Buxton, star of film, television and BBC radio.
The hall’s tiered seating allows for a capacity audience of 220 with space for over 100 more at floor level. The extensive, sprung timber floor space is ideal for the children’s dance and drama lessons and the ceiling was designed to provide the best possible acoustics. A sound system is in place, with speakers over the entire seating area, controlled by a state of the art mixer system. Additionally, there is an induction loop for the hearing impaired. The lighting system is similarly advanced and allows for productions in the round.
The Read Hall is used by all children from Reception to Year 8 for a broad range of activities. These include conventional assemblies for the Prep Department children, year group plays and concerts and full scale musicals and major concerts.
The Hall also includes a 150inch screen and projector creating a cinema, while the screen can also be used to enhance theatrical productions.
