Our Eco Council School Pond Project
Members of our Eco Council visited Notcutts Garden Centre to purchase a range of native pond plants for our School Pond Project, funded by The Royal Society.
After carrying out a range of tasks over the winter to clear weed and improve water quality, the children were very excited to be starting the process to enhance and improve the habitat for the pond wildlife. Over lunch break, they planted the aquatic plants around the sand bags; installed a pond access ramp; positioned a hedgehog house, the bird feeders & bird houses; planted wildflowers; and camouflaged a bug hotel.
They were extremely excited and proud to see their pond clearing efforts rewarded with a very healthy volume of frogspawn already apparent.
