Year 8 Geography Field Trip to Flatford Mill
Year 8 Geography Field Trip to Flatford Mill
Our Year 8 geographers hit the ground running at the start of the new school year, venturing out on a residential Geography field trip on the first day of term.
Travelling to Flatford Mill Field Study Centre in the heart of Constable country in Suffolk, they visited and investigated river channel and drainage characteristics at three river sites. Our pupils planned their investigations before collecting and recording data at each site including river measurements, field sketches and observation of human impact on the river, all whilst dodging the torrential downpours and thunderstorms! On the final day, they were tasked with constructing their own den in the woods that needed to be both wind proof and water proof with the instructors throwing water on the finished dens, with the builders inside, to test their success!!
Thank you to the staff at Flatford Mill for an educational and fun few days.
